Consumer Reviews

I just got the Dancin Dogg unit this week. Supposedly the "new and improved" Optishot unit with the 3DD simulation environment. The corporation has but to release the new software. I was quite sure this was the case as the web page hints at it but doesn't make it clear. They promise a free upgrade in January 2009 when its supposed to be released. Got it for beneath $300 US door to door, so I figured I'd bite.
Accuracy basically appears quite beneficial. I played around with it for a half hour with a sand wedge (and no ball) in my living area, and it seemed to choose up on different swing paths, speeds and so on. Graphics on the dashboard are quite horrible, but like I said, this is nonetheless the old computer software. We'll see if and when they release the new version how a lot it improves.
In a much less than best lighting atmosphere (according to what they recommend) I'd say there was much less than a five% rate of not selecting up a swing. I had the finest outcomes with all the lights off. I was standing in front of our dwelling theater screen so this worked much better anyway.
The interface with Tiger Woods '08 was pretty cool. I will have to play around with the settings a bit significantly more, but with the settings suggested by DD, I was uable to make John Daly hit the ball anywhere but dead straight, no matter what the shape/path of my actual swing was. I read somewhere that if you set the difficulty to the highest level, this will transform, but since this was my 1st encounter with the game, I didn't attempt to adjust it. I was getting as well significantly enjoyable.
As soon as I get the factor set up with a mat so it really is at the ideal level, and am able to take complete swings with all my clubs I'll update this. But for now, I'll say that for less than the price of a few rounds on the fancy public courses about right here, it'll produce me with lots of entertainment over the winter.
What I like:
It really is releatively inexpensive.
It gives a chance to swing a club at residence, with a actual ball and sufficient feedback that it could possibly basically give me the chance to improve my game a tiny.
The game interface loks like it'll give hours of enjoyable for me and my golf buddies. A bottle of scotch, some cigars and this factor will make Saturday afternoons pretty darn fun.
Quite little and portable. I feel it'll be fairly uncomplicated to take to a friend's property or the range (covered booths with flourescent lighting). There is also no external power provide needed, gets its juice from the usb connection, so a laptop is all you desire.
What I don't like:
Existing software is awful. Functional, just ugly.
It is LOUD. Tends to make a pretty important THWACK when the clubhead hits the surface of the unit. I can see finding yelled at if my wife is in the home. Well, that occurs anyway.
Tiger woods game doesn't give the option to not show the golfer, kinda takes away from the illusion that you happen to be basically on the course. This has nothing at all to do with the unit itself, just pointing it out.
All in all, I'd say for the funds spent, its worth it.
Update
Ok, turns out I was appropriate about the yelling thing. Sandwedge slipped out of my hand. Was implementing one of my old clubs, badly in desire of a new grip. Also, all my gloves had been in my golf bag, down in the trunk of the vehicle. Yes, I know. Recipe for disaster. Anyway, it flew down the hall, bounced off the wall and knocked the glass globe off the ceiling light fixture. The sort that looks like a cut crystal ball with a hole in the best and is held in location by three set screws. I say it knocked it off due to the fact it did not break somehow. Nor did the bulb. According to the Black box (Dancing dogg) the clubhead was traveling about 60 a millisecond before it took flight. Slight inside out, square face. 80 odd yards. I'm guessing the club would have covered at least half that, given a clear flight path and clearance from the tower. Somehow managed not to destroy the 10 wedding pictures on the wall on its way to the ceiling lamp. No matter, the Dancin Dogg is in indefinite time out. So considerably for my dreams of Scotch soaked Saturday afternoons...
Anyway, putting the Tiger Woods player on "Expert" setting appears to make the ball flight even more realistic. I can not figure out how to make it keep on one club tho. Wanted to practice on 17 at Sawgrass (the island Green) but soon after each shot it would automatically default to the driver. Kind of a discomfort to have to walk over to the laptop and pick the wedge every time. Kinda silly as well, why would John Daly pull out a driver on a 135 yard par three? Anyway, if I ever get my toy back I'll hold the updates coming. For now I believe I'll just go pout.

I reside in montana and the winters are painfully extended.
We are lucky if the course is open in mid-november and luckier still if it opens in mid-April.
As a 13hdcp who is aspiring to be single digit this season, I necessary to hold my swing in shape throughout the winters.
Hitting balls into a net is ok but it does not give any feedback.
That is where the dancindogg or optishot comes in.
I got it from amazon since I find it simple and easy to deal with them in case I did not like the item and had to return it.
The product arrived nicely packed and was rather simple to open. The software installed quickly and the unit was ready to go really fast.
Obtaining the perfect lighting condition is essential if the unit is to operate proficiently.
My tip is to preserve a lamp lit in the area at a distance from the unit. The lamp have to have a compact fluorescent bulb and not halogen. I cannot over emphasize the right lighting.
Subsequent, make confident your feet are level with the unit given that the unit's hitting pad sits an inch and a quarter above the floor. Build your stance and make positive you are square. If you compensate for a less-than-fantastic stance, you will want to discredit the outcomes and feel that the unit is faulty. But the unit is a machine and it doesn't lie. A few folks are disappointed due to the fact the unit tells them their swings are not as excellent as they believed. But I think the unit and its feedback. It will take a small adjustment (swing speed and distance settings) to get the distance you get on the course. As soon as done, you can enjoy the unit and do some severe practice.
There are two modes for practice...practice zone and 3DD practice. Both have their worth. The latter has on-course graphics and is a simulation. The former is geared only toward technical numbers like path angle, face angle, swing speed and tempo.
The sensors are indestructible unless you just pick up the club and bring it straight down like an axe to hit the sensors. The sensors are set deep sufficient in the turf to not get hit by a club moving along the turf.
Based on the design of the sole of your driver, you may perhaps not have luck in registering driver swings. A common trick is to cover the sole with masking tape and then making use of a strip of reflective tape on the top edge of the sole ideal along the club face. The tape will help the unit pick up the swing.
Irons are naturally reflective and should certainly work devoid of any tape at all even if they aren't fairly shiny.
Overall, I'm especially pleased with my buy. It is the most beneficial worth simulator out there...do your search and you will not come across something in this cost range that presents so much.
Pros: great graphics, lots of personalization doable, straightforward setup, unit is well constructed, practice mode allows a really good assessment of your swing
Cons: Printed matter doesn't give you strategies and tricks to make the unit work...internet forums have rather small discussion except for ottawa golf. personalization (listed as pro above) is also a downside. Some many people could possibly not like tinkering so significantly to get very good results. You'll want the lengths, lofts, and offsets of your irons due to the fact the unit has space for such facts. Not absolutely everyone knows the exact specs of their clubs.
Recommendation: strongly suggested. can not go incorrect if you take the time to set up.
